Ultimate Guide to Telangana POLYCET 2026: Admissions, Dates & Careers
Are you a 10th-grade student in Telangana looking for a fast track to an engineering career or a specialized diploma? The POLYCET-2026 is your most important milestone this year. Whether you want to join a top polytechnic college or study agriculture and veterinary sciences, here is everything you need to know in simple English.
What is POLYCET-2026?
The Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by SBTET Telangana. It allows students to enter 3-year diploma programs immediately after high school.
One of the biggest advantages of this path is the “Lateral Entry” option. After finishing your 3-year diploma, you can enter the second year of a B.E. or B.Tech degree directly, saving you time and giving you practical skills earlier than traditional students.
Which Courses Can You Join?
By writing just one exam, you open doors to four major sectors:
Technical: Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering.
Agriculture: Specialized diplomas in organic farming and seed technology.
Veterinary: Animal husbandry and fisheries for those who love working with animals.
Horticulture: Focus on plants, gardening, and landscaping.
How the Ranking Works
A unique feature of POLYCET is that you can get two different ranks:
Polytechnic Rank: Based on your marks in Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.
-
Agriculture/Veterinary Rank: Based on Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Note: Attempting the Biology section is optional, but it is required if you want a rank for agriculture or veterinary course
Step-by-Step Application Process
Visit the Portal: Go to polycet.sbtet.telangana.gov.in.
Payment: Pay the fee (Rs. 500 for General, Rs. 250 for SC/ST).
Fill Details: You can fill the form yourself or go to a Coordinating Centre where an operator will help you.
No Separate Form: You don’t need a separate admission form for engineering diplomas; your POLYCET application counts as your admission request. However, for PJTSAU, PVNRTVU, and SKLTGHU, you must check their specific websites for separate admission notifications after the results are out.
Exam Day Rules: What to Remember
To ensure your exam goes smoothly, follow these strict guidelines from the board:
-
Timing: The exam starts at 11:00 AM. You must be at the hall by 10:00 AM. No one is allowed inside after 11:00 AM.
