Telangana Government to Recruit 1,803 Physical Education Teachers (PETs) – Strengthening Sports Education in Schools

The Telangana government has announced a major recruitment drive to improve sports education in government schools. A total of 1,803 Physical Education Teachers (PETs) will be recruited soon through the upcoming DSC (District Selection Committee) notification. This move aims to promote physical fitness, sports training, and overall development among students.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the state government is giving special attention to sports and physical education in schools. The Education Department is working to ensure that every government high school in Telangana has at least one dedicated Physical Education Teacher.

At present, around 2,800 out of 4,641 government high schools already have PETs. However, many schools still lack trained physical education staff. With this new recruitment, the government aims to fill these vacancies so that every student gets proper sports training and physical activity as part of their daily education.

This initiative is expected to encourage students to take part in sports, improve physical fitness, and help identify young sports talents from rural and urban areas across Telangana.

Recruitment Details

The Education Department has already submitted proposals to the state government to approve the recruitment of 1,803 PET posts. Once the government gives clearance, the recruitment process will officially begin through the upcoming DSC notification.

Interested and eligible candidates will be able to apply online through the official DSC portal once the notification is released. Candidates with the required qualifications in physical education and training will be eligible to apply.

Along with PET posts, the department has also proposed 261 Headmaster posts for newly established government schools in the state. These vacancies are also expected to be filled through the same DSC recruitment drive.
